Settling In

This will probably be the first time a child has left with anyone outside their circle of family and friends. We do not underestimate how big a step this is for both the child and the family, and as such, aim to make the transition as easy and smooth as possible. Parents are given three short sessions when required, where they can stay with their children as part of the settling in process. These sessions will proceed the start date and are free of charge. We want both the child and the family to feel completely happy about being left in our care. We understand that all children are different and therefore, transitions are tailored to meet individual needs.

Key Person System

We believe that through a 'Key Person approach,  children will be able to form close relationships with one member of staff and become part of a little 'family' group' of similar aged children. On the whole, this person will take responsibility for the child's diary, learning journal and generally be there each day your child is in nursery. Sometimes two members of staff share a key 'family' group. Having this key worker enables us to gain strong attachments and a deeper knowledge of individual children, thus allowing for accurate development assessments which in turn helps us to identify and close any gaps in learning.

Generally, there will always be either the manager or deputy manager in nursery every day. A senior is always present at the beginning and end of the day, and all staff are well qualified to deal with any concerns that you may have.
